About me

Hi, my name is Nicola and I live in the heart of England. I am not a Rushbrook by birth but my interest in the name and all its variants stems from my grandmother who's maiden name was Rashbrooke. Howerver, as we found out quite quickly when we started researching that family in 1998, a number of Rushbrook and Rashbrook families used different variants of the name at different times over the centuries. No doubt down to the parish clerk who would enter it in the registers how he saw fit!

Variants included in this one-name study are Rushbrook(e), Rashbrook(e), Rosbrook, Ris(s)brook, Resbrook, Raishbrook, Rasbrook, Rusbrook, Roshbrook and other variants with a single "o"! It's become over the years a labour of love to work out which families are connected (where possible) based on known information such as birth, marriage and death certificates, Wills, baptisms and burial information, but also information such as location of individual, common use of particular first names, etc.

While the majority of parish register information we currently have is relates to Suffolk (where the vast majority of research has been done), I also have considerable amount of information for the UK generally, as well as US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand (to varying degress as the reseach continues) from other sources such as BMD registrations, census returns, immigration records, military records, newspaper articles, criminal indexes.

If you are looking for information on an individual or indeed a particular family, I'm quite happy to look up what I have and the databases I maintain are now quite extensive. A certain amount of the information is indeed available on pay-for-view sites, but the information I hold is set out into family groupings whereever possible so if you cannot find out about an individual, let me know and I'll happily look out what I have. Similarly now that recent information on individuals has become more widely available, there is a need to protect privacy.
